Drainage Engineer
(Based in Skye, Working Throughout Mainland)
Gillies Group is a growing drainage company based in Skye, delivering professional drainage, maintenance, and repair services across mainland Scotland. We work with both domestic and commercial clients, providing reliable, high-quality solutions using professional equipment and experienced engineers.
Due to continued growth, we are looking for an experienced and motivated Drainage Engineer to join our expanding team.
Job Type
Full-time, Permanent
Monday to Friday (with weekend rota and call-out availability)
The Role
The successful candidate will be responsible for diagnosing drainage issues, carrying out repairs and maintenance, and delivering a high standard of service to our customers. This role involves working on a wide range of drainage systems across domestic and commercial properties throughout mainland Scotland.
Key Responsibilities
- Diagnosing and resolving drainage issues
- Reactive drain unblocking and repairs
- Carrying out CCTV drain surveys and inspections
- Performing planned maintenance and servicing
- Carrying out drain repairs, excavations, and reinstatement work
- High-pressure drain jetting and system cleaning
- Working on both commercial and domestic properties
- Using mobile technology (smartphone/tablet) to manage and update jobs
- Providing professional service and maintaining strong customer relationships
- Ensuring all work is completed in line with company standards and health and safety policies
Requirements & Experience
- Minimum 5 years’ drainage experience (required)
- Experience carrying out pipe and sewer line inspections
- High-pressure jetting experience
- Experience in reactive maintenance work
- Plumbing experience in domestic or commercial environments (advantageous)
- Full UK driving licence
- Strong problem-solving and communication skills
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Commitment to delivering high standards of workmanship and customer service
Preferred Qualifications
- WJA Certification
- Confined Space Certification (advantageous but not essential)
- CSCS Card (advantageous but not essential)
- 360 Excavator Ticket (advantageous but not essential)
