Salary: £40,000–£45,000 DOE + Overtime + Company Van

Are you an experienced Drainage Engineer looking for your next opportunity?

GILLIES Group is expanding, and we’re looking for a skilled, motivated and professional Drainage Engineer to join our growing team based on the Isle of Skye, delivering drainage services across the Highlands & Islands.

Whether you’re carrying out CCTV surveys, high-pressure water jetting, reactive repairs or planned maintenance, you’ll be joining a company that values quality workmanship, invests in its people and takes pride in delivering an exceptional service to every customer.

What You’ll Be Doing

High Pressure Water Jetting
CCTV Drainage Surveys
Blocked Drain Clearance
Drain Repairs & Maintenance
Septic Tank & Treatment Plant Installations
Septic Tank & Treatment Plant Repairs & Servicing
Planned & Reactive Drainage Works
Emergency Call-Outs

Working across commercial, industrial and domestic properties, no two days are the same.

We’re Looking For Someone Who

Has previous drainage industry experience
Holds a full UK driving licence
Takes pride in delivering high-quality workmanship
Has excellent problem-solving and customer service skills
Works well independently and as part of a team

HPWJ, CCTV, Confined Space, OS19X and CSCS qualifications are advantageous but not essential. Training can be provided for the right candidate.

Apprentice Plumbing & Heating Engineer

Gillies Group is looking for motivated and reliable Apprentice Plumbing & Heating Engineers to join our growing team.

This role is ideal for individuals who are keen to learn, willing to work hard, and serious about building a long-term career in the plumbing and heating trade.

Key Responsibilities

Assist qualified engineers with plumbing and heating installations and repairs.
Learn fault diagnosis and basic system testing.
Support work on boilers, pipework, and heating systems.
Maintain tools, vehicles, and work areas safely and responsibly.
Follow health and safety procedures and company standards at all times.
Attend college or training as required as part of the apprenticeship.
Develop practical skills, technical knowledge, and professional working habits.

What We’re Looking For

A genuine interest in plumbing and heating.
Willingness to learn and take instruction.
Reliable, punctual, and hardworking.
Positive attitude and good communication skills.
Ability to work as part of a team.
Commitment to completing the apprenticeship and progressing in the trade.

Previous experience is not essential, but any practical or site-based experience is an advantage.

Plumbing & Heating Engineer

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a domestic and commercial Plumbing & Heating Engineer to join Gillies Group, working across the Isle of Skye and the mainland.

Key Responsibilities

Install, maintain, and repair plumbing and heating systems.
Diagnose faults and provide effective solutions.
Work on boilers, central heating systems, radiators, pipework, and general plumbing.
Carry out associated works as required (additional training provided where necessary).
Ensure all work complies with current safety regulations and industry standards.
Deliver excellent customer service and communicate clearly with clients.
Maintain accurate records of work completed.
Work independently and as part of a team.
Participate in the on-call rota (1 weekend per month for emergency repairs).

Requirements

Essential

Proven experience in plumbing and heating installation, servicing, and repairs.
SVQ Level 3 Plumbing & Heating (or equivalent).
Full UK driving licence.
Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
Professional attitude with good communication skills.

Desirable (Not Essential)

Gas Safe registration.
Experience or qualifications in:
Air Source & Heat Pumps
Oil / OFTEC
Solar Thermal
Biomass
Solar PV

Competitive salary: £40,000 – £50,000, dependent on experience.
